Struggles in Life will make you a stronger person!!
Everyone is in conflict with something, including the people who look like they have it all. Hardships only have the power to destroy you if you hand it to them.
We all face uncomfortable situations at some point. It is easy to start feeling bitter towards the people who seem to “get it all.”
The truth is that everyone is in conflict with something - including the people who look like they have everything. You are comparing your difficulty to their public face, and their public face was assembled specifically to not show you this.
Face your hard time now. Life is not easy, after all. Some days it seems things cannot possibly get worse, and then they do. Struggle is not easy to overcome.
No matter how loudly the streets call, you don’t have to answer. Make a difference in your own life first. Keep going. Be hungry for change. Break down the barriers that look impossible.
Let it shape you, but pick the shape
Struggles do not have to be your downfall. Accept them and let them become your strength. Let them shape you. Take pride in what you have made of your life so far.
Every single person struggles from time to time, but after we endure the hard times we come out stronger and better. That is what I believe.
I want to add a caution, though, because “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is only half true and the missing half matters.
Difficulty does not automatically make anyone better. On its own it just as easily makes people harder, more suspicious, quicker to expect the worst. We have all met someone whose bad years clearly closed them rather than opened them.
What decides which way it goes is not the size of the hardship. It is whether the person kept anything soft. Whether they still let people in, still assumed good intentions sometimes, still let themselves be moved.
The strength worth having is not armour. Armour is just fear that got organised. The strength worth having is the ability to stay open in a world that gave you reasons not to be, and that one has to be chosen deliberately, usually more than once.
The power is only borrowed
Hard times are unavoidable. Whatever the situation, it has the ability to flatten you, make you feel worthless and make you question everything about who you are.
But here is what people don’t always think about: hardship only has that power if you give it.
You have the capacity to override any negative feeling you have. You are greater than your struggles and stronger than you believe. Your mindset, and the way you choose to handle life, are what will get you through.
The first thing to do: don’t try to control your thoughts - just stop letting them control you. There is a real difference. Fighting a thought keeps it in the room. Noticing it, and declining to obey it, lets it pass.
If you love life, life will love you back. The trick is to enjoy it. Don’t wish your days away waiting for better ones. Challenges are what make life interesting, and overcoming them is what makes it meaningful.
Remember: “After every storm, the sun will smile; for every problem, there is a solution, and the soul’s indefeasible duty is to be of good cheer.” - William R. Alger
Believe in yourself and you can be anything. Whatever has to be done, it is always your choice.
Everything happens for a reason. At the end of the day you can let your struggles make you or break you. There will be times when nothing goes right and the world seems to have turned against you - and it is entirely about how you choose to react. That is where your real character shows.
Hardships are inescapable, but letting them destroy you isn’t.
