The only real battle in life is between hanging on and let go!!
You don’t need strength to let go of something - what you really need is understanding. Whatever comes, let it come. Whatever stays, let it stay. Whatever goes, let it go.
Every day is a new day, and you will never find happiness if you don’t move on.
To help yourself, you have to be yourself. Be the best that you can be. When you make a mistake, learn from it, pick yourself up and move on. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.
Forget the past, because the future will give you plenty to worry about on its own. No matter how much we want things to stay the same, life is all about change. Sometimes that change is for the better and sometimes it isn’t. But whatever the reason things are changing, we need to be able to let go and move.
Moving on - whether from a painful experience, or the loss of something or someone you treasured - does not mean you have to forget them. Take them as challenges on the way to what you want, and learn what they came to teach.
There are better things ahead if you keep going.
Understanding, not strength
It is important to forgive ourselves for our mistakes. Learn from the error and move.
When you let go, you are truly free. And you don’t need strength to let go of something - what you really need is understanding.
That distinction is the most useful line in this whole piece, so let me be specific about it.
Strength is the approach most people take. Grit your teeth, decide, force the thing out of your mind. It works for roughly a week, because the moment your attention slips the thing walks straight back in. You cannot willpower your way out of caring about something.
Understanding works differently. It is seeing clearly why it happened, what it was really about, and what you were actually holding on to - which, more often than not, is not the person or the situation at all, but a version of yourself that existed alongside it.
Once you genuinely see it, the grip loosens on its own. You do not have to release anything. It stops needing to be held.
Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values. You have to know when it is time to turn the page. Life moves on and so should we.
Until you accept it is over
Unless you let go - unless you accept that the situation is genuinely over - you cannot move forward.
Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. So let go of what is bitter and go.
In the process of letting go you will lose many things from the past, but one thing is certain: in the end, you will find yourself.
Change has to come for life to move forward at all. If everyone is moving forward together, success takes care of itself. Some of us think that holding on is what makes us strong. Often it is the letting go.
Renew, release, let go
You must learn to let go. Release the stress.
The beautiful journey of today can only begin when we let go of yesterday.
Whatever comes, let it come. Whatever stays, let it stay. Whatever goes, let it go.
And never love something or someone so much that you could not survive letting them go. That is not a warning against loving deeply - love as deeply as you can. It is a warning against building your entire identity on top of a single thing, because then losing it does not just cost you the thing. It costs you the person you were.
Remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know for sure that you have.
Nothing in the universe can stop you from letting go and starting over.
Yesterday is gone, and there is nothing you can do to bring it back.
Just renew, release and let go.
