Reflections
Go for the ride of your life. Do it every day.
Life is an experiment, and the more experiments you make the better. It is not the years in your life but the life in your years that counts.
Enjoy the little things in life. Life is an experiment, and the more experiments you run, the better.
Sometimes it is good to break the rules, because if you obey every one of them you will miss all the fun.
Cherish your yesterdays, dream your tomorrows, and live your todays.
Two questions, every day
Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from trying at all. Get your heart going.
Every day it is worth asking and actually answering two questions: “What’s good in my life?” and “What needs to be done?”
I have come to think those two, together, are the whole thing. The first stops you from living in a state of permanent deficit, where everything is a problem and nothing is ever enough. The second stops the first from becoming complacency.
Either one alone goes wrong. Gratitude with no action turns into a comfortable stall. Action with no gratitude turns into a treadmill you never get off, where each achievement resets the counter to zero and you are immediately behind again.
Ask both. In that order.
Don’t wait. Make memories today. Celebrate your life. Life has no limitations except the ones you build yourself. It is a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can. You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Whatever you want to do, do it now.
There is a famous saying: it is not the years in your life but the life in your years that counts.
Well, there you have it. Now go and take on the world.
Be patient, but not indefinitely
Be patient - but don’t wait forever for something that is not going to happen.
That line deserves more attention than it usually gets, because patience and denial look identical from the inside. Both involve waiting. Both feel like faith.
The difference is whether anything is actually changing. Patience is waiting for something that is moving slowly. Denial is waiting for something that is not moving at all, and calling it slow.
If you cannot point to a single thing that has changed in a year, you are not being patient. You are being loyal to a version of the future that has already declined.
Whatever is happening in your life, take it as a lesson for later. Your life is the result of the choices you make. Even if you fall on your face, you are still moving forward.
Moving on doesn’t mean you forget. Things go wrong. But life goes on.
Keep moving
Never regret what has happened. It cannot be undone. People change, things break, and life never stops moving forward. Stay focused and don’t slow down.
Life is like riding a bicycle - to keep your balance, you have to keep moving.
Sometimes we need to let go of some people from our past. Don’t look back. When there is no turning back, concern yourself only with what is best ahead. What’s done is done, what’s gone is gone. Don’t waste your time staring at what you lost.
Move forward. Aim high. Plan a takeoff. Don’t just sit back and cry. However you feel, get up, get dressed and fight for what you want.
Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. It hurts to let go, but sometimes it hurts more to hold on.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: it goes on. Moving on is very hard, but once you have, you realise it was worth the attempt. And moving on after painful experiences, or the loss of something or someone you valued, does not mean you have to forget them. Take them as challenges on the way to what you want, and learn the lessons they left.
