Reflections

Life begins at the end of our comfort zone!!

What lies behind us and before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. If you are depressed you live in the past, if anxious in the future, if at peace in the present.

One thing we should all remember is that life begins at the end of our comfort zone. What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared with what lies within us.

Your greatness is in there. As you start to walk the path, the path appears. Don’t worry if you fail at first - keep trying and you will get what you want.

Always be thankful for what you have and you will end up with more. Concentrate on what you don’t have and you will never have enough.

What the comfort zone actually is

Life works like a magnet, and our thoughts are what attract it. So stay positive and you are sorted. And you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to - remember that.

But I want to be precise about the comfort zone, because the phrase gets used to justify a lot of pointless discomfort.

The comfort zone is not defined by how pleasant something is. It is defined by how familiar it is. Plenty of people are living inside a comfort zone that is genuinely miserable - a job that grinds them down, a relationship that has been over for years - and it is still the comfort zone, because it is known.

That is why leaving is so hard even when what you are leaving is bad. You are not giving up comfort. You are giving up certainty, and the mind will take a known misery over an unknown outcome nearly every time.

So the question is never “is this comfortable?” It is “is this familiar, and is familiar the only reason I am still here?”

There is great power in silence, because the quieter you become, the more you can hear. Keep moving forward - everything happens for a reason. We learn so much during the negative stretches, and bad times don’t stay forever.

Living with a grateful heart is one of the most powerful things you can do. It will change your life. And if you are not taking responsibility for your own state of mind, you are not really taking responsibility for your life.

Three tenses

Every morning: wake up, be aware, and make your own path.

The most important thing to remember is this - if you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.

I would soften that slightly now, because a low mood is not always a failure of attention and sometimes needs real help rather than a reframe. But as a description of where the mind goes when it is unsettled, it is remarkably accurate, and simply noticing which tense you are stuck in is often enough to loosen it.

There is no one living who cannot do more than they think they can.

You are amazing. Stop limiting yourself. Do not go where the path may lead - go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. That is how you learn about life. Lead with your own ideas and do what is right for you.

Happiness comes from within

Only you can decide to be happy, if you really want to.

Spread love wherever you go. Let no one come to you without leaving happier. Love everyone and everything. Keep doing good work for yourself.

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change. Your perspective matters. Be authentic and live on your own terms.

Life is not a problem to be solved but a reality to be experienced. It is about being in the moment and actually experiencing it.

Be yourself. Some people will not like you, and who cares - you are not here to impress everyone. To accomplish great things we must not only act but also dream, not only plan but also believe.

So: act, dream, plan.
