Look at Life’s Setbacks as Opportunities!!

When bad things happen, it’s natural to feel down. You may even fall into the trap of assuming that things will never get better. Unfortunately, this mindset is the very thing that keeps so many people stuck in one place. This wild ride that we call in life is actually an endless string of highs and lows, successes and failures, setbacks, and comebacks.

When you’ve hit the ground on all fours, you may feel the need to deny your situation or take it for granted. In that case, just allow yourself to be vulnerable to the way you feel. Taking time to feel your emotions and grieving your situation is a good start to refocusing yourself for what’s to come.

Remember to accept what you can’t change. This is more about understanding that what’s happened can’t be undone. So try to accept it and start thinking of what comes next. Always be kind, and forgive yourself. When life knocks you down, it’s normal to feel guilty, blame yourself, and even add self-hate to that pile. However, at the end of the day, you must learn to forgive yourself and find a door within the darkness. Once you’ve forgiven yourself and are ready for the next move, it’s time to evaluate your options. Ask yourself what can be done differently by assessing what went wrong.

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” This quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is a great reminder that just having a goal is not enough. You can write it down, break it down into as many small daily goals as you want, but if you don’t have an action plan to execute it, all will be in vain. So make plans around your goal. Listening to music, sharing your experiences with people, and reading books can help to avoid setbacks. But most importantly, remember to not give up. You haven’t failed until you quit, so keep at it.

After suffering a big blow, it is hard to accept the truth and it is often heart-breaking. And probably, you will not get over it in a day or two. Always give yourself some time to heal. No matter what you do, you must accept the truth that you have failed. You must take the responsibility for what you did that ended up being where you are right now. You don’t have to hide, ignore, or deny the fact that you have failed. In fact, the faster you can accept the truth, the easier you can get out of it. Thus, accept that you have been knocked down. At the same time, understand that it is perfectly alright to fail. Failure is inevitable. If you are not getting enough failures, it means that you are not trying hard enough.

Obviously, nobody likes to fail. Everyone wants to win and achieve success, but most of the time, failure is what we receive. And it is hard to swallow when you have done something that screwed up. There are many times when life can hit you with a brick on the head and makes you fall, but that doesn’t mean that you should fall and continue to stay there. You can always get back up again when life knocks you down. If you want to make a comeback, you must learn how to manage your failures. You must learn how to rise up when life knocks you down. Always remember this, life can knock you down seven times, but you can decide and get back up again for the eighth time.

When life knocks you down, you can choose to either stay there or rise up once more. Reboot and then start again with a better version of yourself. It is alright to fail. Actually, failure is something very common. The key is whether you are going to stay there or get up and strive again. Hence, don’t be afraid to get back up and to try again.

Remember this meaningful quote from Robert Jordan: “You don’t drown by falling in the water, you drown by staying there.”
