Positive Vibes all the way!!
Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you start getting positive results. There are 1,440 minutes in a day, which means 1,440 chances to make a positive impact.
Try to stay positive always. Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results eventually.
Remember: yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. So make your move with some intelligence behind it.
In order to carry out a positive action, we must first develop a positive vision. Unless we start creating positive thoughts, we cannot emit positive vibes.
Try to always look on the optimistic side of life, but be realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter. Handle it with care.
Optimism is not the same as pretending
I want to sit on that last line for a moment, because it is the part of this that most people skip.
There is a version of positivity that is really just refusing to look. Everything is fine. It will work out. Don’t be so negative. It sounds hopeful and it is actually a kind of hiding, and it collapses the second something genuinely difficult arrives - because it was never built to hold weight.
Real optimism is different, and it is much tougher. It looks straight at how bad something is, does not soften it, and then decides to act anyway. It says this may not work, and I am doing it regardless. That version survives contact with reality. The other one does not.
So when I say stay positive, I do not mean smile at things that deserve a serious response. I mean refuse to conclude, in advance and without evidence, that nothing you do will matter.
Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will. That is simply a fact. So choose wisely where you want to see yourself in the future.
I read somewhere: “Pessimism leads to weakness, optimism to power.” - William James.
So have an optimistic approach to the future.
Build the room, not just the resolve
Remember: you can’t make positive choices for the rest of your life without some kind of environment around you that makes those choices easy.
This is the most practical sentence in this whole piece and I nearly buried it.
Willpower is a terrible long-term strategy. It works brilliantly for a week and then you get tired, or busy, or sad, and it evaporates exactly when you need it. Everyone who has ever abandoned a resolution knows this.
Environment does not get tired. The people you spend your evenings with, the first thing you look at in the morning, what is within arm’s reach when you are bored - those decide far more of your behaviour than any decision you make about who you intend to be.
If you are trying to be a more positive person while spending three hours a day somewhere that rewards outrage, you are not lacking discipline. You are just fighting the room, and the room always wins eventually.
Change the room. It is easier than changing yourself by force, and it lasts.
It costs nothing
Positive thinking is more than just a tag line. It changes the way we behave. And I firmly believe that when I am positive, it does not only make me better - it makes the people around me better too.
It costs us nothing to stay positive. So give it a try.
After all, Les Brown said: “In every day, there are 1,440 minutes. That means we have 1,440 daily opportunities to make a positive impact.”
So try to be a positive thinker. I think that is what helps most in the difficult moments.
Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference, so channel all of yours into positive work.
And be thankful for whatever you learn each day. Even if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learnt a little.
