Reflections

The more you feed your mind with positive thoughts, the more you can attract great things into your life!!

Positive people spend most of their time thinking about what they want and how to get it. Anyone can be cheerful when things go to plan - your attitude is revealed by the setbacks.

The power of positive thinking is remarkable. Positive people spend most of their time thinking about what they want and how to get it. That mindset alone can change your entire life. When you think and talk about what you want and how to reach it, you feel happier and far more in control.

Your mind has the bandwidth to hold one thought at a time. All you have to do is keep it on the uplifting one.

That sounds simple and it is not, so here is the practical version: you cannot delete a thought. Trying to stop thinking about something guarantees you will think about it. What you can do is occupy the slot with something else. Not stop worrying about this but think about that instead. Substitution works where suppression never does.

When a negative event occurs, remember that your response determines the outcome more than the event does. Look for the positive response or the optimistic lesson when those moments arrive.

Attitude is revealed, not declared

Looking on the bright side matters most when things go wrong. It is easy to be cheerful when everything is going to plan. It is when you meet unexpected setbacks that you show yourself, and everyone around you, what kind of attitude you actually have. So make sure it is a good one.

Nobody discovers their real attitude on a good day. Anyone can be gracious when they got what they wanted. The information arrives in the bad week - how quickly you blame someone, whether you go quiet, how long you stay in it, whether you can still be generous to a person who has nothing to offer you.

That is why setbacks are worth paying attention to rather than only enduring. They are the only honest report you get on yourself.

Developing a positive attitude helps in more ways than you realise. When you fill your mind with positive thoughts, there is less room for doubt to settle in. Believing in the power of positive thinking is one of the most effective ways to change your attitude, and optimism is directly tied to how we think.

It touches everything

Positive thinking affects your work, your health and your life in every direction. So use your mind to change your life for the better and to improve your relationships with the people in it.

Positive thinking is fundamentally a mental attitude - one in which you expect good results. It is the practice of creating thoughts that turn energy into action, and action into reality.

One thing we should be clear about: positive thinking is more than smiling and avoiding bad situations. It is about how you see every situation, including the ones you cannot avoid. And as a genuine bonus, it reduces the physical toll that constant negative thinking places on your body.

A note on the days it doesn’t work

I want to add something, because pieces like this can leave people feeling they have failed at positivity.

There will be days when you cannot find the uplifting thought, and no amount of effort produces one. That is not a failure of technique or character. Some days are simply heavy, and the honest response is to get through them rather than to reframe them.

Positive thinking is a long-term habit, not a performance you owe anyone on a specific afternoon. Judge it over months, not mornings.

Remember that life may feel impossible at times, but it is also precious. Don’t spend it thinking about everything bad that has already happened, or everything bad that might.
